K. R. MANGALAM SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE AND PLANNING

Indira Gandhi National Open University(IGNOU), established by an Act of Parliament in 1985, serves the educational aspirations of about 2 million students in India and 33 countries through 21 Schools of studies and a network of 59 Regional centers, 7 sub regional centers, 2300 learning support centers and 52 overseas centers. Apart from teaching and Research, the University also runs extension programs for capacity building. It also acts as a National resource Center and functions as an apex body to promote and maintain standards of Distance Learning and Face to face education in the country. In order to realize the objectives of providing access to all segments, a memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and K.R Mangalam School of Architecture has been entered for conducting 5 years full time (Face to face learning) B.Arch Degree program Approved by Council of Architecture. The B.Arch Degrees will be awarded by IGNOU on successful completion of 5 years full time course as per the norms of Council of Architecture and IGNOU.
K. R. Mangalam School of Architecture and Planning is the initiative of Delhi Vocational Educational Society (Regd.) a group with its roots as deep as seven generation of entrepreneurial expertise, and a tradition of commitment and excellence in whatever has been undertaken. The belief strongly revolves around the conceptualization of a success module through an unparallel level of efficiency in architecture. A Passion for quality and integrity in whatever the group does has resulted into immense respect in the industry and the society as a whole.
The K. R. Mangalam story goes back to the chain of schools that offered an alternative option of world-class education, pitching itself against the established elite schools, which had enjoyed a position of monopoly till then. Having blazed a new trail in school education the focus of the group was trained on higher education. The Group has made rapid strides in many spheres of activity within a short span since inception. Architectural Education

Architecture today is Part of the architectural profession, and also some non-architects, responded to Modernism and Postmodernism by going to what they considered the root of the problem. They felt that architecture was not a personal philosophical or aesthetic pursuit by individualists; rather it had to consider everyday needs of people and use technology to give a livable environment.
Extensive studies on areas such as behavioral, environmental, and social sciences were done and started informing the design process. With the increase in urbanization in our country, the complexity of buildings began to increase (in terms of structural systems, services, energy and technologies), and so architecture started becoming more multi-disciplinary. Architecture today usually requires a team of specialist professionals, with the architect being one of many, although usually the team leader. During the last two decades of the twentieth century and into the new millennium, the field of architecture saw the rise of specializations by project type, technological expertise or project delivery methods. Moving the issues of environmental sustainability into the mainstream is a significant development in the architecture profession. There has been acceleration in the number of buildings which seek to meet green building sustainable design principles. Sustainable practices that were at the core of vernacular architecture increasingly provide inspiration for environmentally and socially sustainable contemporary techniques.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION TO THE FIRST YEAR B.ARCH PROGRAM

The candidates applying for Admission:
Must have cleared 10+2 CBSE or equivalent with minimum 50% overall marks, and having mathematics as one of the Main subject.
OR
10+3 Diploma recognized by the Central/ State Governments.
The Candidates with above qualifications must have a valid NATA ( National Aptitude Test in Architecture) score.(Minimum 40%) .
PROCEDURE FOR SUBMITTING APPLICATION FORM FOR ADMISSION TO B.ARCH.
1. The candidates are requested to submit the complete Application form( Along with relevant documents)at Ignou Office, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi as per date mentioned below.

2. The following documents are required to be submitted along with the application form.

Attested copy of 10+2 Mark sheet
Attested copy of NATA Score card.
2 Passport size photographs.
Certificate of Date of Birth.
Character Certificate
Fitness Certificate
Certificates for SC/ST/OBC/PH/ Kashmiri Migrant etc if applicable.

The original documents are also required to be shown for verification at the time of submitting the forms.
Under no circumstances will any application form or additional information be accepted after the mentioned date.

PROCEDURE FOR ADMISSION
1. The status of Applications and MERIT LIST will be displayed on the Notice Board of the Institute.
2. The Merit List shall be prepared on basis of Matrix mentioned below:

Architectural Aptitude (NATA SCORE) 50%
Qualifying Examination Overall Marks 50%

(All subjects mentioned in the marksheet shall be considered for arriving at the overall gross percentage)
(10+ 2/ 10+3years diploma recognized by Central/ State Governments)

ADMISSION THROUGH FIRST COUNSELING

Counseling schedule shall be displayed on the Notice Board of K. R Mangalam School of

Architecture as per schedule.

The candidates should report at the Notified date and Time along with the following

documents:

The candidates are requested to submit the complete Application form( Along with relevant documents)at Ignou Office, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi as per date mentioned below.
Two separate Demand Drafts of Rs. 75,000 and Rs. 10,000 need to be submitted. Same will be notified after the selection.
Admission shall be offered to candidates who are present during counseling as per the MERIT LIST. Admission Slip for admission to First year B.Arch program shall be issued by the Admission Officer to the candidates on submission of Full Fees through Demand Draft and verification of all documents.

Counseling/ Admission process shall stop when all the General Quota Seats are filled up. The List of Admitted candidates shall be displayed on the Notice Board of the School the next day.

WITHDRAWAL/ CANCELLATION OF ADMISSION AFTER FIRST COUNSELING
The candidates after having been admitted to the First year of the B.Arch program through First counseling have the option to withdraw/ Cancel his Admission up to the Final Date and Time of withdrawal as per given Schedule . Upon a written request from the candidate for withdrawal, the candidate will be entitled to refund of the Fee deposit and caution money after deduction of Rs. 1000.00 (Rupees One thousand only). No refund is permissible after the last date mentioned in schedule 1.
ADMISSION THROUGH SECOND COUNSELING

List of vacancies created due to withdrawal/ Cancellation will be notified along with the schedule of Second counseling as per the Time schedule 1.
The vacant seats shall be filled during the Second counseling as per the MERIT LIST of candidates.
Upon filing of the General seats, Counseling shall commence for the SC/ST/DEF/PH/KI etc. The candidates under these reserved categories will be called in order of Merit for Admission. The candidates will be given Admission on verification of documents and deposit of Total fees (Rs 75,000.00 + Rs 10,000.00) through Demand Draft in favour of K. R. Mangalam School of Architecture and Planning, payable at Delhi/ New Delhi.
The conversion of any unfilled seats reserved for SC Category will be offered to ST Category and vice versa. Only after completing this exercise will the conversion of the Reserved category seats to General seats be affected.
The second counseling will commence from Rank one of the Merit List for all categories separately. Such candidates who were absent during the First counseling will also be given an opportunity in the Second counseling for Admission to B.Arch program.
If a candidate reports late during the counseling process, he/she will be considered for allotment of seat available at that point of time.
A candidate taking admission in the second counseling will not be entitled to withdraw the Admission. In case a candidate drops out after taking admission in the second counseling, his/her fees will be forfeited.
Rest of the procedure for the second counseling shall remain the same as the First counseling.

FEE STRUCTURE FOR B.ARCH PROGRAM
K. R. Mangalam School of Architecture and Planning

Program Fees per Annum	Rs 75,000.00 (Rupees Seventy Five Thousand only)
Security Deposit	Rs 10,000.00 (Rupees Ten Thousand only)

(Refundable after completion of B.Arch course)
Examination Fees at the time of Examination As per Norms of the University.
Students Activity fees shall be charged separately as per the activity and participation by the student.
Note: All payments are to be made through Demand Draft in favor of K.R Mangalam School of Architecture, payable at Delhi/ New Delhi.

Accomodation

The Institute has hostel accommodation facility with a separate hostel for both boys and girls.The hostel is fully air conditioned hostel. The rooms in the hostel are spacious, airy, well-furnished and conducive to learning and having 24 hours power back up. Living in campus is not only a comfortable experience for students, but it also gives them opportunity to use the other facilities at institute like library, internet, gym, sports etc. till late hours.

Good quality, nutritious, delicious and hygienic food is provided to the students in hostel mess. Hot water is also supplied by geyser in the winter.
